time flies

I am a little late on this post seeing as how she is now 6 weeks old (whoa time is flying), however these were the pictures I captured on her one month birthday. Sweet little girl!

all hallow's eve

I have to be honest, Halloween is my least favorite holiday. In fact, when we found out Finn was due in October I prayed it wouldn't be close to Halloween (hoping she wouldn't come later) so she didn't desire Halloween birthday parties. So although I'm not a fan, we did celebrate by handing out candy at my parents' house. We also partook in the other Halloween traditions, including hot dogs and chili and watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". Finleigh also did participate in a little dress-up. She received this adorable eggplant hat from a friend of mine and immediately I knew it'd be the perfect, simple Halloween costume.

something new

photo done by Jessica James
well, the time is here. I've been working on switching my blog to my new one for a while and now the time is here! Welcome to fig&copper. There were many reasons I decided to switch. For one, my first blog, redirected, was a spur of the moment decision. I didn't really think, I just acted. I originally needed an outlet; an outlet for writing, for creating and really for a break from the monotony of studying I was experiencing at that point in my life. It was a quick fix idea and while it worked, I longed for something a little more with the blog. I longed for more creativity, I longed for more direction and I longed for it to become more. This is what f&c offers me. I now have a little more direction in where I want my blog to go and what purposes I would like for it to serve. While it will be similar to my old blog, it will look a little different. Along with this new blog has come a number of new additions for Chaz and I including our first home, as well as a beautiful baby girl. More to come...

So why fig&copper? that's another realization I had. I desired my blog to ultimately reflect my biggest love...in Christ. Fig came about from the parable of the fig tree {mark 11:20} in which Christ uses the fig tree to illustrate the importance of prayer and faith in prayers. Copper derived from the parable of the widow and her copper coins {mark 12:41}. In this story, the people are placing their money in the offering box and here the widow puts a mere two copper coins, yet it was everything she had! Christ stops to reflect with the disciples the giving the widow has offered in abundance. Although the quantity was no grand, Christ points out that the widow was willing to give her all. This is a reminder that Jesus provides and will continue to do such. He gives and delights in our giving back. I desire that I delight in sharing the money, aid and gifts God has provided. So fig&copper is a simple, beautiful and constant reminder of these important things.

so that's it. here it is. and I'm excited to see where it goes.

questions, comments, concerns. post it to me!
